|The End of an Era|
One Month Later
The New War
Katara agreed, “We should, plus I’m tired.”
Sokka and Toph agreed. They landed on a small island on the Fire Nation edge. There they set up camp. After they ate they gathered around the campfire. They were all depressed, sad, angry, and nervous. They were on their way to face Azula, the worst person on the planet. Not only that, they were going against Zulan, another master Firebender, but also against an army of earthbenders mad at them for abandoning them.
Aang began to talk, “I wish we didn’t have to do it.”
“What do you mean?” Katara replied
“I mean I wish we didn’t have to go out after Azula, we shouldn’t be doing this, I should have defeated Azula back in Ba Sing Se. Now Zuko’s dead and its all my fault.”
“Aang, stop it, it’s not your fault, it’s Azula’s and Azula’s alone.”
Meanwhile throughout it all Toph and Sokka did nothing, Sokka was thinking of Suki and Toph was just thinking. Aang cooled down then sat down, Katara sat down next to him, hugged him, and then said, ”I miss when there was peace.”
AANG AND KATARA’S STORY
After the War Aang and Katara lived in Ba Sing Se for three month. There they helped The Earth Kingdom recover from 100 years of war. That’s when the incident occurred.
Aang and Katara were in the palace with the Earth King and Zuko. They were discussing how and when the Earth King started to get annoyed. Zuko was trying to keep the islands that the Fire Nation had under control before the war. The Earth King disagreed.
“That’s our property, we had it before the war, so it’s ours.” Zuko replied in an angered tone.
The King turned to Aang, “Aang, tell him that’s it ours!”
“Uhhhhhh, I don’t know, split it?”
Apparently that was enough for the Earth King, “If you don’t give us what is rightfully ours, then out of my nation!”
Zuko stood up, preparing to duel, Katara grabbed him, and “Zuko stop, let’s just go.” Aang, Katara, and Zuko were walking out when Di Li agents came down and grabbed them.
“What are you doing?” Aang screamed.
“Teaching you guys not to mess with me!” The Earth King responded, “Now, you have two choices, you can leave willing, or you will be forced out. The choice is yours.”
Zuko turned to the King, “you’ll regret it. I promise”
Back in the Fire Nation, Aang, Zuko, and Katara were debating what to do, Zuko suggested sending troops to protect the territory, however Aang and Katara didn’t want to start another War. In the end Aang flew back to the Earth King to see him, “We are willing to compromise, we will give you the four closer islands and we keep the three father islands.”
“Fine, but they can’t have any troops on those islands.”
“Deal! Thank you.”
Aang was just happy there wasn’t going to be another war and that there he wasn’t responsible for more deaths. After that Aang and Katara moved to the Northern Air Temple to begin energybending the citizens to be able to airbend. The process took eighteen months. One year later they had their first child named Jet, a waterbender. Two years later, they had another child, a boy-airbender named Tenzin.
Back at the campfire, Aang finished telling the story. “That’s Nothing!” Toph said laughing.
After the War, Toph returned home to see his parents. When she got there, she expected to be disowned, but she just wanted to go home once more. She was wrong.
“So, let me get this strait, you mad, but proud?” Toph replied confused.
“Yes.” Her mother replied.
“Toph,” His father said in a strange tone. “We love you, but you ran away and the is unforgiveable, but you saved the world and we will love you for that.”
“O.K? So I can leave?” She replied hopefully.
He paused for a moment then replied, “Yes, you can.”
Toph jumped up then said bye and left. After that she headed to Omashu where she planned to help Bumi clean up the city. However two years into the five-year plan, Bumi died. After the funeral, Toph was named the Queen of the Omashu and the regional area’s queen as well. Three years later she finished the project. And at that point she married Huru who had helped her finish the project. They had there first daughter named Shui, or water.
Back at the campfire, Toph had just finished. “What about you, Sokka, what did you and Suki do after the war?” Katara asked cheerfully.
“I don’t want to talk about it. I’m going to bed, good night.” Sokka said in a sad tone.
Sokka left, after a minute of silence, Katara and Toph left. Aang just sat there, then after a few seconds he said to himself, “Were ready.” He put out the fire then went to bed. Even he needed to convince himself.
